David Bowie Dies at 69 After an 18 Month Battle with Cancer

David Bowie, One of the most iconic rock ’n’ roll stars in music history has died after an 18-month battle with cancer and takes his place among the stars.

On Sunday, two days after his 69th birthday—and the release of his new album Blackstar – David Bowie died after an 18-month battle with cancer. In addition to his contributions to the music and fashion worlds, Bowie was captivating on camera. He appeared in a wide range of movies including The PrestigeZoolanderTwin Peaks: Fire Walk With MeThe Man Who Fell to Earth, and of course the unforgettably bizarre Labyrinth. He also made a couple of TV appearances, the most memorable of which was in Ricky Gervais’ Extras.

David Bowie, Provocateur, Weirdo, Innovator, Genius.

His enigmatic persona and musical restlessness challenged us from the start—and continued right up to his final days. Thank you, David Bowie.
